Tighten your seat-belt, Woyane is determined to arrest and terrorize Ethiopians to hang on to power. The campaign to destroy the remaining independent journalist further exposed the clone journalist masquerading as independent singing the tune of the regime.
The Committee to Protect Journalist (CPJ) in its latest report of July 31, 2014 reviled the young Ethiopian photo journalist Aziza Mohamed of Addis Guday (Addis Affair) was nabbed on July 18 by plain cloth security personal in the vicinity of Anwar Mosque. She is held at Addis Ababa police headquarters the report said quoting local reporters. It would make her “the second journalist jailed from the popular, privately owned Addis Guday magazine. Police arrested editor Asmamaw Hailegeorgis along with eight other journalists and bloggers in April and this month charged them, along with one blogger in absentia, with inciting violence and terrorism, according to news reports”.
The report said “Police investigators presented Aziza before the Kirkos First Bench Court today but requested further time for their probe before bringing formal charges, local journalists said. According to local journalists who attended the hearing, police told the court that Aziza was inciting protesters to violence during the demonstration. However, Aziza told colleagues who visited her in detention that plainclothes policemen arrested her in a café near the protests, likely after noticing her camera. Police searched Aziza’s home on July 26 and confiscated several music compact discs, local journalists said.”
The went on;
“Time and time again Ethiopian police use the guise of inciting violence as a pretext to silence media coverage of sensitive issues,” said CPJ East Africa Representative Tom Rhodes. “Journalists should not pay with their freedom for doing their work. We call on authorities to release Aziza Mohamed immediately.”
The intensive campaign against independent journalist is aimed to deprive the popular Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) local information that intern would broadcast it for worldwide audience including throughout Ethiopia. It is to be recalled the regime attempted in multiple occasions to disrupt ESAT’s broadcasting with the help of the China theology.
It is to be recalled not long ago zone 9 bloggers along three journalists (Befekadu Hailu, Atnaf Berahane, Natnael Feleke, Mahlet Fantahun, Zelalem Kibret, Abel Wabela, Tesfalem Weldeves, Edom Kassaye, and Asmamaw Hailegeorgis) were sentenced on terrorism charge after extended detention with no formal charge that brought uproar around the world. The outrage brought bloggers for unexpected places around the world in a campaign to Free the Zone 9 –opening up more opportunity for the world to see the unreported atrocities of the regime galvanizing young Ethiopians and firing up the social Media like no other cause did in the past.
To add fuel to the fire, the regime’s abduction of Andargachew Tsege, the popular Ginbot 7 Movement for Justice and Democracy leader from Yemen angered Ethiopians around the world to knock on every door to confront the regime’s international supporters. The regime’s officials traveling overseas were not spared the anger of Ethiopians as they are sought out in every venue.
According to unverifiable report, a coordinated campaign to go after the interest of the regime and its supporters around the world is on the pipeline. The source that wouldn’t disclose his identity and whereabouts or what the campaign may be can only say, ‘the campaign includes identifying molds dispatched to spy on Ethiopians in Diaspora and notifying the proper authorities for possible detention and deportation. In that regard, he said ‘a special task force is setup to work with immigration authorities throughout the world. Individuals that sought political asylum are special interests’, he said in his email respond. He wouldn’t elaborate or respond for additional questions except to say he based in Europe. .
There had been many reports circulating that indicate TPLF spies are sent in several countries as asylum seekers and present in refugee camps as well as in the general population. Some are openly doing business with the regime they claim to fear for their safety and travel to Ethiopia openly. Others are spying on asylum seekers and report to their higher-ups out of refugee camps. There are also unverified reports TPLF spies are using the resettlement slots of Eritrean waiting in refugee camps scattered in Tigray Region.
The complex web of spying, corruption and propaganda of TPLF and operatives requires organization, extensive research and working with the proper authorities and Medias to untangle.
Ethiopians must attentively follow up on TPLF operative in their locality and inform the appropriate Medias and organizations.
There should be no more free ride for the regime and its operatives in Diaspora.
